Factions and organizations on Terra Divinum are as you would expect: a group of like minded individuals trying to make the world work in there favor. And while we have a few already established groups, we're leaving the rest up to you guys! Factions can be anything: mercenary guilds, merchant caravans, anything you can think of just might be be able to join or start your own faction!
Now, factions are useful for getting new allies and the like, but what other benefits do you reap from joining or starting one?
Two things: Gold for your faction and notoriety.
Gold is very self explanatory: earn money doing jobs or what have you and spending it to keep your members fed, housed, armed, and so on. Notoriety, on the other hand, is where factions (and shops) really gain ground. By performing jobs and such, factions and shops gain notoriety around Tyrancia, meaning they'll be able to draw in more buyers or customers and gain access to new resources. The higher a faction or shop's notoriety level is, the more research and development they can perform to improve their statuses. Not all jobs are created equal, of course, so one job may not grant as much as another and each shop and faction will have a notoriety progression bar, as well as a unique research list based on their goals and current status. For example, say the Midnight Brigade has reached a notoriety level of 30. This unlocks research into a new weapon type: the cross bow, which, at a notoriety level of 75, can be further researched into the wrist mounted crossbow, and so on.
As a sidenote, if you make your own faction or claim a leadership role in a preestablished one, anyone can challenge you for control. If you deny this challenge, you forfeit the position and if the challenge is accepted, then both players consent to their characters possibly dying.
Individual characters can also earn gold and notoriety and it progresses much in the same way as with factions, with the ability to gain better weaponry and armor as well as having their own, unique perks to gain.
